<'새도우 피칭'의 중요성!>

배팅 기술을 향상시키기 위하여 배트 휘드르는 연습을 하는것과 똑같은 이유로 투수도 볼을 쓰지않는 피칭연습에 힘써야 한다.
큰 거울이 있으면 당장에 할 수 있는 일이다.  이른바 '새도우 피칭'  이 연습의 주안점은 피칭 특유의 움직임을 몸에 배이도록 익히는데 있다.
하나하나의 동작을 머리로는 알고 있더라도 실전에서 제대로 하지 못한다면 아무런 소용도 없다.  반사적으로 몸이 움직일 정도로 몸 그 자체에 배어버리도록 하는 것이다.  또 한가지 노리는 것은 폼의 결점을 바로잡는 일이다.
폼을 체크하기 위해서 거울을 보는 눈이 동시에 포수 미트를 응시하는 눈의 역할을 다하는 셈이 된다.  받침다리 하나로 서서 어깨의 모션을 썼을때 자칫하면 눈을 포수에게서 떼기가 쉽다.  이것은 컨트롤을 흐트러뜨리는 제1보다!  '새도우 피칭'이 그 나쁜 버릇을 고치는 데 매우 큰 도움이 된다.
